Custom Polypropylene Anodizing Tank: 4 × 10 × 4 ft
A project write-up from our Tucson shop: a large open-top polypropylene tank built for a customer’s anodizing line. See more of our plastic welding and custom tank fabrication work.

The challenge
The customer needed an open-top tank for an anodizing line. At 4 × 10 × 4 ft, it holds about 1,197 gallons, so it needed thick material and reinforcement to keep its shape when full. A tank like this is also suitable for metal cleaning or stripping.
What we built
- Size: 4 × 10 × 4 ft, open top (about 1,197 gallons)
- Material: 1″ thick polypropylene
- Reinforcement: 1/8″ wall steel tubing, covered in plastic so no steel is exposed
- Agitation: two 3″ bulkhead fittings
- Overflow: an overflow fitting, plus an added 3/4″ drain fitting
- Uses: anodizing, and also suitable for metal cleaning or stripping
Built and tested
The tank was professionally extrusion welded in our shop and leak tested before shipping.
